Maple Granola

Granola is easy to make and modify to include the ingredients you enjoy most. It is much less expensive to make your own, too!


4 cups organic oats

1 cup nuts, chopped

1/2 cup flax seed, ground

1/3 cup olive oil

2/3 cup real maple syrup


Pour oats into a medium sized mixing bowl. Chop the nuts and grind the flax in a blender; add both to the oats. I used mixed nuts, but you can use whatever you prefer. Add the oil and syrup. Stir until well mixed. Spread mixture onto a large baking pan and bake at 300 degrees for about 40 minutes, stirring once. Once cool, store in glass jars and serve with your favorite non-dairy milk or yogurt.

(Note: This recipe uses real maple syrup. Buying locally made products is always my aim. You can find locally made syrup at your farmer's market or local health food store.)
